I finished my Hobbit Audio Book some time ago, and am almost nearly to ”The Two Towers” in the Lord of the Rings. Not enjoying it as much as I did the Hobbit.

I figured I’d do my take on Bilbo. I often prefer imagination to movie interpretations, but maybe that’s just because my mind is more animated and colorful.

I kind of wanted to do a take on Gollum too, since I REALLY don’t see the Peter Jackson creature in my mind during the book, it’s much darker, with brighter eyes, and frog like feet. But I couldn’t figure out how to position him, and I figure the “Riddles in the Dark” scene probably had a billion fan arts anyway.

...I have, and have not seen the movie... I saw it, but in bad quality and not really paying close attention. All I remember is smiling at a few things I remembered from the book, and being confused when things happened that I don't remember.

I read Lord of the Rings back in middle school and the Hobbit probably some time before that. I've thoroughly enjoyed the films and am considering rereading the series after I finish the books I'm on now. I definitely approve your take on Bilbo. It'd be interesting to see some of the other characters in your style.

I might do more. I wanted to do Gollum. I'll likely do Sam and Frodo when I'm done with the Lord of the Rings. Don't know if
I'll feel like doing anything beyond that.

Gollum could be particularly interesting. After seeing the film of the Hobbit, Radagast the Brown has become one of my favorite characters. I didn't remember his part from the book, since it's been so long since I've read it, but I love him in the film.

I looked into it, and apparently Radagast appears in the Lord of the Rings books, but not in the movie... He appears in the Hobbit movie, but not in the books.... Hrmmm....

Interesting. As stated, I definitely need to reread these in the not-too-distant future.

So far I have the first two books (Hobbit and Fellowship), one track from the OST for Ralph Bakshi's film, the entire Hobbit LP for the Rank-Bass Special, a VHS recording of the Rankin-Bass Special and the first trilogy of Peter Jackson's films.

Nonetheless I really like the Hobbit since it's what got me interested in Lord of the Rings, and it's the one book I can finish quickly.

"An 'adventure', you say? Thanks, but no thanks. The other day I looked in the pantry and found that I was almost out of cheese, that's enough danger and excitement for my taste."
