A few weeks ago, I made a request of my Tumblr followers. I needed five or six volunteers to give me a random pokemon of their choosing, without telling me what it was, and I would make a playthrough of Pokemon Black using that team.

Four days ago, I finished the game I was previously playing ( I was very unhappy with most of my old team. ) Transferred everything to Black 2, and started over.

Anyway, It took me two days to get everyone who volunteered to get me the pokemon they wanted me to use. But here they all are.

I'm calling the Trainer "Dustin" ...an NPC said I resembled my Pokemon a bit. And since Deino was the only pokemon I had with me at the time, I modeled him a little after that... I got a big thing for guys with hair in their eyes, so I had to resist giving him the same emo bangs as Deino, so he could be a little more expressive... I rolled a D20 for his personality, and it came up as "Sassy" ...that amuses me. As for his team:

Liam - Male Deino - Timid Nature.

…I allowed myself to choose any pokemon I want as my own “Starter” …I’m gonna say this is an optional thing one can do if they want to try a similar idea as this. Arrived from my copy of B2 after it hatched. I’ve always loved Deino. It’s so cute. But it gets much less cute as it evolves… so I’m going to keep it as a little one headed deino.

Bubblegum - Female Deino - Brave Nature.

How cute, her nature is very contrasting to the Deino I picked up. I think I’ll let this one evolve though.

PICHU - male - Naughty Nature

I was given a choice of three pokemon, and they were all pretty hard choices: Charmander, Eevee, and Pichu... Charmander tempted me to no end, but this is my first no-starter run, so I passed... and I never would be able to pick an Eeveeloution ( I'm not terribly fond of Eeveelutions anyway... ) so I ended up choosing the Pichu. I’ve trained many Pikachu in the past, but the anime made me a sentimental fool for Pikachu, and never evolved a single one of them, outside of pokedex purposes. I think I’ll aim to evolve it this time.

Riolu - Male - Careful Nature

…Actually it’s a Lucario by now. I spent time walking around with it to make it happy while I waited for the rest of my followers to give me their pokemon. But let’s just pretend it stayed a Riolu for a while… I have trained Lucario before. I know this guy’s going to be an asset to me. Especially since it’s palm thrust can just be a big middle finger to those nasty boldores and their “sturdy” ability. But how can I make this one different from the other Lucario I’ve used before… hmmm…

SANDSHREW - Female - Mild Nature

I’ve never trained a Sandshrew before, even though it’s probably my favorite pure ground type pokemon. Should be interesting. Don'tgetcutehanamura actually gave me a choice between Cyndaquil, Magyby, and Sandshrew. I am not using starters, and I already trained a Magmar on Black 2, so I went with Sandshrew.

Last but not least, the little spitfire. Named after the dragon from the Legend of Zelda series ( better known as Volvagia in the Japanese version and later games ) I just finished training one of these, who now rests in my PC as Magmotar, however I like Magmar much more than I like Magmotar… so I think this one is going to stay at stage two.


...Next time I might set up some ground rules. Mainly to avoid training a pokemon I've already trained once before... though I don't want to seem like I'm turning my nose up at free pokemon.

I do want to do this again, perhaps with Soul Silver next time.

Anyway, I'm liveblogging the game on tumblr as I play. I might do more drawings later.
